Megan A. Jones (pronounced Mee-gan) was always drawn to the arts. She took AP Art in HS, received an art scholarship to college, worked as the art instructor at a prestigious boarding school, and volunteered her time where she could. Her background is in education, with experience ranging from pre-K and primary through high school. She holds an AMI Montessori Certification and a Master of Education (M.Ed.).

A series of joint surgeries from 2023 to present day led to the inability to indulge in her favorite physical activities. So, as to not lose the joy those activities brought, she returned to painting. She fell back in love with a newfound vision, energy, and style for her art. With great support from friends and family, she moved through the fears of a new endeavor to pursue a career in art. Today, she is a Juried Member of the Sonoran Arts League in Cave Creek.

Her work explores the beauty of the natural world. Focuses include nature, animals, and the female figure. She chooses subject matter that can evoke calmness, sensuality, excitement, and strength. In using acrylic paint, she is able to use the kitchen as a studio, combining real-life duties as a mother with her endeavors as an artist. Her husband and friends make the frames for her. Her son often decides between photos for each acrylic painting.

Her process is about building lights upon darks and then back again until the piece feels balanced. She has experienced many light and dark times in life, all of which have made her a more intricately woven individual, with greater breadth and interest. She believes art can be the same way. In addition, the message in each piece is about whimsy, imagination, and freedom.
